Welcome to the Directorate of Advanced Studies & Research (DASR) at Karakoram International University (KIU). As a mountain university, KIU carries a unique responsibility to promote research that is relevant to mountain environments and societies, while meeting national and international academic standards.
The Directorate of Advanced Studies & Research serves as the focal point for the regulation, coordination, and promotion of MPhil/MS and PhD programs, functioning as the operational arm of the Graduate Research Management Committee (GRMC). Our role is to implement University advance studies rules & regulations and HEC policies, facilitate research processes, and ensure transparency, quality, and academic integrity throughout the research lifecycle from admission and synopsis approval to thesis defense and degree completion.
At DASR, we are committed to fostering a research culture that integrates modern scientific knowledge with local, indigenous, and conventional wisdom. We strongly encourage applied, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary research that contributes to sustainable mountain development, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, ethical governance, education, and socio-economic uplift of mountain communities.
The Directorate actively supports scholars and supervisors through timely facilitation, rigorous monitoring, and capacity-building initiatives such as research trainings and workshops. Our goal is to ensure timely completion of research degrees and the production of impactful and socially relevant research outcomes.
